Short Description
Turning Conflict Management into Constructive Problem Solving
Detailed Description
Critical conversations are interactions that happen to everyone. They are the day-to-day conversations that affect your life. Since they involve more than one person, opinions may differ. This workshop will help you understand the nature of conflict, become aware of your style of handling conflict, and gain skills to make your conversations match your goals. The conflict management skills explored in this workshop will enable you to turn conflict into constructive problem solving. These techniques are effective with your peers as well as with the students you encounter each day. Presenter: Marilynn Edwards has many years experience in education, as a consultant, classroom teacher, and state professional development coordinator. Audience: School Bus Drivers, Food Services Personnel, Clerical Staff, Recess Staff, Custodial Staff, and others interested in this topic. July 29, 2010 (registration deadline: July 1, 2010). Location: NWIESC. 10AM-2PM (registration begins at 9:30AM). Registration includes brunch and materials. $45 – NWIESC members; $100 – Non-NWIESC members.
